Clients rarely lead with the thing that matters most. My job is to keep asking until they do.

As a Financial Advisor at Finivi, I advise individuals and families across the whole of their financial lives, from the portfolio itself to the tax and estate questions that surround it. Most of that begins before any recommendation is made, in getting the right questions onto the table.

My Story

I grew up in Nutley, New Jersey, a small town and a good place to grow up. My father died young, and the years that followed were harder. My mother took over his business, an employment agency, while raising my older sister and me, a boy on the edge of his teenage years. She ran that agency for years, though she had never once sat for an interview herself.

The business had good years and hard ones. She stayed with it, and she put both of her children through college and graduate school. I have never forgotten what that required of her.

I worked through school, earned a degree in Accounting, and later completed an MBA.

Professional Background

I have spent more than twenty-five years advising families on how to build, protect, and pass on what they have worked to earn. In that time I have navigated multiple market cycles, along with the economic and geopolitical events that shaped them, and that experience informs how we build and monitor portfolios at Finivi, and how I advise the families those portfolios serve.

My background is in accounting, and it shaped the way I think about money to this day. I measure results by what a client keeps, not by what a portfolio earns on paper. As a Chartered Financial Consultant, I look at each decision in the context of the full picture, investments, taxes, and the long arc of a family’s plan, because that is where real value is either preserved or lost.

I also serve on Finivi’s Investment Committee, which keeps me close to the research behind every portfolio we build. The question I bring there is the one I bring to any client meeting: whether a portfolio still fits the life it was built for. Lives change, priorities shift, and a portfolio that fit five years ago may not fit today.

Personal Pursuits

Most of my time away from the office goes to my family. Our young grandsons have my full attention, and nearly everyone else’s, and they are a joy to be around. Athletics, the beach, travel, or a shared meal: being with them is an endless delight.

There is usually some time left for the deck, a financial magazine, and whatever the industry is reporting that week.
